Shrimp Cooked In Filipino Way

We found a simple and easy recipe for cooking shrimp. They are steamed with their own juices which gives them a delicious flavor.

In the Philippines shrimps are traditionally served with dipping sauce of vinegar, garlic, salt, and hot chili peppers.

To prepare this meal you need the next ingredients:

  • 1/2 kg large shrimps with the shells
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • oil for frying

For the sauce:

  • half a cup of vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Shrimp Cooked In Filipino Way

Instructions for preparation and cooking:

  1. In a saucepan mix the shrimp, water and salt. Cover the saucepan and allow the ingredients to boil. Cook it for 3-4 minutes with occasional stirring. Drain the shrimps and set them
  2. Pour some oil in a pan over medium heat. Shortly fry the shrimps for 1-2 minutes until they are coated with oil. Serve them with the dipping sauce.
  3. To make the dipping sauce: dissolve one teaspoon of salt in half a cup of vinegar. Add more vinegar or salt if you like.
